Once upon a time, there was a girl named Rikki Barnes, and she was pretty much the coolest girl you could ever meet. She was raised by heroes, and when she was fourteen, she met Captain America and helped him kick ass. He was so impressed that he took her on as his sidekick. For a couple years, she ran with legends: the Avengers, SHIELD, her friends in the Young Allies. She saved people and made a difference, and pretty much had the best life any girl could ask for.

So when a monster called Onslaught threatened to destroy everything she ever knew, she didn’t hesitate. She looked it right in the eye and crashed with it into a piece of existence called the Negative Zone, where it wouldn’t be able to hurt anyone anymore. In the process, she died, but it died with her. It could never hurt anyone she loved ever again.
